ReX is Catalyx's orbital return vehicle, built for high-cadence cargo delivery from LEO to designated ocean recovery zones. REX is enabled by the Cable-Tensioned Deployable Hypersonic Decelerator (CTDHD), a deployable aeroshell architecture that uses a network of tensioned cables to support a high-temperature flexible thermal protection layer. Unlike rigid heat shields or inflatable systems, the CTDHD deploys in space from a compact stowed configuration to a large-diameter, 70-degree sphere-cone blunt- body aeroshell using a pyrotechnically driven piston actuator and a Zylon cable network. The ReX 2500 has a payload capacity of 1250kg. The architecture scales to multi-ton class with aeroshell diameters from 2 to 30 meters within standard small launch vehicle fairings.
