PRE-ORBITAL — engine clustering demonstrated

About

Overview

PRE-ORBITAL — engine clustering demonstrated

Technology

Agnibaan: Two-stage configurable LV, 30–300 kg to ~700 km LEO

Dhanush: Mobile/private launchpad at SDSC — enables launch flexibility by location

Agnilet: See engine_programmes section

Reuse work: Company is working on refurbishing the lower stage for reuse

Key achievements

First Indian company to sign an ISRO agreement under the IN-SPACe framework

Agnibaan SOrTeD, 30 May 2024 — first Indian launch from a private pad, India's first semi-cryo engine flight, world's first single-piece 3D-printed engine to fly

May 2026 — first Indian four-engine semi-cryogenic cluster hot-fire

Infrastructure

~350-acre integrated space manufacturing and testing campus under development in Tamil Nadu

Funding

Total raised: $75.5M (Tracxn, 12 rounds) to $85.8M (space-startups.org)

Valuation: ~$500 million (₹4,200 crore)

Round history — $26.7M Series B, October 2023

Round history — $17M Series C, 2025

Round history — ₹150 crore transaction closed 22 November 2025 (₹83 crore final tranche; HDFC Bank, First Founder Investment Adviser, Artha Select Fund, family offices) at a ₹4,200 crore valuation

Round history — ₹25 crore equity from TIDCO, March 2026 — among the first state-government equity stakes in an Indian space startup

Round history — Reported talks for $50–75M at flat ~$500M valuation (May 2026) — CLOSE UNCONFIRMED

Future plans

Next milestone: First orbital Agnibaan flight

Timeline: NO CURRENT PUBLIC TARGET. Original goal was end-2024, then 2025. Repeatedly slipped. Do not publish a date without a fresh company statement.

Note: Agnikul is now clearly the second-place launch player behind Skyroot on flight heritage, but retains a differentiated pitch: dedicated launches where the customer chooses orbit and schedule, rather than rideshare.
